Mamba Week is a week celebrating the life and legacy of the late great Kobe Bryant. As you know, Kobe and eight others (including his daughter, Gianna) died in a horrific helicopter accident on their way to a basketball tournament at the formally named Mamba Academy on January 26, 2020.
Nike is set to release a total of five sneakers, two of which are part of a pack representing the twelve teams that passed on the 17 year old from Lower Merion and the Charlotte Hornets, the thirteenth team that traded him to the the team he’d stay with over his illustrious twenty year career.
On August 24th (8/24), the Los Angeles Lakers are going to wear jerseys similar to the one below commemorating Kobe’s Black Mamba moniker and the history of the franchise as a whole. The special jersey with both numbers Bryant wore with the Lakers will be on sale on sites such as the SNKRS app.
If you take an “L” on the sneakers or jersey (because resellers are ruthless), you can still donate to the families affected at mambaonthree.org.
